DESCRIPTION:For peace and justice\, against war and armament – Memorial Ceremony and Demonstration on 14. of August\, 5:30 PM \nOn the occasion of the 14th International Day of Remembrance for the “Comfort Women” we are gathering at the Statue of Peace Ari for a memorial ceremony. August 14 is an important day in the fight against sexual violence in wars and armed conflicts. In 1991\, Kim Hak-sun broke the silence and became the first survivor to speak publicly about sexual slavery and the so-called “comfort women” system operated by the Japanese military. We honor her and all those affected and call for an end to sexual violence in wars and throughout the world. \nWe will meet at 5:50 p.m. at the ZK/U located at Siemensstraße 27\, 10551 Berlin. \nFrom there\, we will march in a demonstration to the empty space where Ari used to be. It’s an important focal point for the community\, offering victims and their families a place of remembrance and inviting people of all ages to engage with the issue of sexual violence. We demand that Ari returns to her original location in Moabit! (Around 6:00 p.m.\, corner of Birkenstr. and Bremer Str.) \nAfterward\, the Japanese Women’s Initiative invites you to a guided tour of the exhibition “Broken Silence—Women Accuse Japan” at the Museum der “Trostfrauen” (on Quizowstraße 103\, 10551 Berlin). \nCome join us to commemorate and demonstrate together\, because \nWE WANT ARI BACK! \nFor peace and justice\, against war and armament. \n  \nOrganized by the AG Trostfrauen of the Korea Verband\, Cênî Kurdish Women’s Office for Peace\, Frauenverband Courage\, Gabriela Germany\, Japanische Fraueninitiative Berlin\, Netzwerk gegen Feminizide\, Solidarity of Korean People in Europe. \nCultural performances: Uri Dance Group & Kaya Dance Group

DESCRIPTION:After months of legal wrangling\, the situation is now coming to a head: the Mitte district office has issued a demolition order for the Statue of Peace on 7 October. This is intended to silence a central place of remembrance against sexualised violence. We do not accept this!\n\nThe Peace Statue stands for the visibility and dignity of survivors of sexualised violence. Its removal would mean pushing the issue back out of the public sphere – and thus repeating exactly what Ari was created as a memorial to prevent.\n\nThat is why we are taking to the streets together on the day of the announced demolition:\n\n📅 Tuesday\, 7 October 2025\n\n5 p.m.: Meeting point at the Statue of Peace (corner of Birkenstr./Bremer Str.)\n\n5.30 p.m.: Start of the demonstration march along Wilhelmshavener Straße to Tiergarten Town Hall\n\n6:00 p.m.: Closing rally at Tiergarten Town Hall\n\nCome in large numbers\, walk with us and make it clear: We will not allow Ari to disappear. The more of us there are\, the stronger our signal!\n\nOur message is clear:\n Sexualised violence knows no time limit. Places of remembrance must not be demolished. Ari remains in the public space!

DESCRIPTION:The fight to keep the statue of peace in place continues.\n\nIn April\, the Berlin Administrative Court ruled that Ari may remain in public space until at least 28 September. That day is now fast approaching – but our demand remains the same: Ari must stay permanently!\n\nThe statue is a symbol against sexualised violence and for the visibility of survivors. If it is removed\, it will not only be an attack on the memorial site\, but also a repression of violence back into the private sphere.\n\n 📅 Sunday\, 28 September 2025\, 3:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.\n📍Statue of Peace\, Bremer Str. 41\, 10551 Berlin\n\nAG-“Trostfrauen” and Korea Verband invite you to join us on 28 September at the Peace Statue. DESCRIPTION:Language: Japanese with English and Korean subtitles \n📅 Wednesday\, 24 September 2025\, 7:00 pm\n(Doors open at 6:00 pm)\n📍 Korea Verband Quitzowstr. 103 10551 Berlin \nWe cordially invite you to the screening of ‘Voices To Songs’ – a documentary by Zainichi Korean director Park Yeong-i about Korean ethnic schools in Japan – known as Uri (“our”) Hakgyo (‘schools’) – and their Korean students living in Japan. \nWhy do these people support Korean schools and choose to work with the Korean community in Japan? \nStarting from this question\, the film accompanies supporters from Hokkaido to Kyushu and explores their motivations and the stories behind their activities. The focus is on a small Korean school in Shiga with only 15 children and the Japanese people who are committed to supporting it. \nEvery year\, the school hosts the Uri Hakgyo Madang summer festival\, which brings together Zainichi (Koreans living in Japan)\, Japanese\, Brazilians\, Okinawans and many others. Together\, the local community creates a society rich in diversity. The film portrays their efforts to overcome prejudice and discrimination and their vision of a hopeful future. \n🎟️ Admission free – donations welcome
